Hakone no Uribo by Shiino Foods Inc.

A cute manju characterized as a wild animal in Hakone by a food company in Odawara city, Kanagawa.

Last update :

Hakone no Uribo is a product of Shiino Foods Inc., a company established in Odawara in 1894 that produces many souvenir sweets in Hakone and Izu. It is a manju shaped like a baby wild boar living in Hakone.

The moist dough of the manju is filled with bean paste flavored with milk butter. It tastes mild and sweet.
The shelf life of 135 days from the date of production makes it a great idea for a souvenir.
Packages and wrapping papers are also very cute, presenting two expressions on the uribo; one with a straight face and one with a confused face. Both are almost too adorable to eat.

You can also choose chocolate banana flavor (840 yen for 10 pieces). Besides manju, there are cookies with milk butter and cocoa flavors in the Uribo series (486 yen for 12 pieces).
You can purchase them at their store in the Yumoto Fujiya Hotel, as well as other hotel shops and souvenir shores in Hakone.
