A bay area centered around the sailing ship "Lady of the Sea".
The sailing ship "Kaiwomaru," known as the "Lady of the Sea," is moored in this park. The park is also home to the Japan Sea Exchange Center, which displays models of sailing ships from around the world; the Bird Park, where about 150 species of wild birds can be observed throughout the four seasons; the "Green Pergola," a 180-m-long, 10-m-wide corridor; and Fureai Hiroba, a playground with a variety of equipment, including a large "Hammock of the Waves. On weekends, the park is crowded with families and couples enjoying a stroll.
The Kaiwomaru is a sailing ship that has sailed 1,060,000 nautical miles (about 50 circumnavigations of the globe) since it was launched as a training ship for the merchant marine school in the early Showa period. The ship has been preserved in its original state, and visitors can tour its interior. The illumination of the ship every night is also popular. The full-sail exhibition is held 10 times a year, when all the sails, shining in pure white, are unfurled.
The Kaiwomaru is also known as a "holy place for lovers" since it was launched on Valentine's Day, February 14.
The ship is dotted with spiritual spots for happiness in and around the ship, including "Aimusubi (Heart lock & Promise key)," the Bell of Happiness, and the Time Bell.
