Inside “Sengan-en”, this museum is located on a place giving viewers a view of the “Reverberatory Furnace”, a world heritage. Visitors can learn the history of Japan’s modernization beginning with the Satsuma domain (Kagoshima), information on world heritages, and the “Shuseikan Jigyo” via replicas, exhibits, and documents on display.

In the middle of the museum is a giant 1/10 scale model of the Reverberatory Furnace. Complete with recreations of tall chimneys, and fire-resistant panels, it is popular for its glimpse back in time as viewers can compare and contrast with the real life furnace remains. The replica is hollow inside, giving viewers insight on the interior of the furnace. There is also a short film screening with CGI recreations of the furnace. If you wonder why the furnace became a world heritage, your answer is here.

The education space features various books about world heritages. They are free to view. This space was awarded the 2021 Good Design Awards. Learn some in a relaxing environment.
