Hamayaki Shirahamaya

Itoshima is known for its high-quality oysters and its many seafood huts gathered around. Hamayaki Shirahamaya is a grill restaurant opened in 2018 at the Keya fishing port in Itoshima.

The restaurant looking much like a stylish café stands in an excellent location right in front of the ocean. There is spacious indoor table seating and an open-air terrace seating with a resort-like atmosphere; both offers a beautiful sea view while dining. The restaurant's large fish tank is filled with selected seafood including local seafood from Itoshima, squid from Yobuko and prawns from Goto. Shirahamaya can serve fun BBQ style seafood meals regardless of the season.

Oysters are, of course, the top item during the winter season. While fried oysters and oyster rice are available on the menu, grilled oysters are the best way to taste the flavor of seasonal oysters. The gas-fired roasters are used to prevent grilling odors from staying on your hair or clothes, and jackets are lent to prevent your clothes from oyster juice stains.

Shirahamaya is open until 9:00 pm. (until 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays), which is unusual for early closing seafood hut restaurants. A shuttle bus service to and from the train station and Fukuoka City is also available, and sightseeing plans can be arranged during the round-trip shuttle service. In addition, a carefully selected Itoshima meat BBQ is also available only on the terrace for a limited time in summer(reservation required). These different eating styles, menus, and service options attract a wide range of customers.
