Kunio Kobayashi, a bonsai artist who promotes and passes on bonsai culture in Japan and abroad, opened this bonsai museum. Located in a quiet residential area 18 minutes by bus from the nearest Koiwa Station, visitors can experience the charm of bonsai in a secluded atmosphere.

There are more than 1,000 pots in the bonsai collection, which is arranged in Japanese gardens and Sukiya-style houses. Over 1,000 years old, some of the most valuable bonsai are a sight to behold. There is a free access area in the garden for visitors to view the bonsai, and after the tour, visitors can enjoy a cup of tea while admiring the beautiful seasonal expressions of the garden.

Bonsai classes are available for beginners and those who want to learn bonsai directly from Mr. Kobayashi. The casual bonsai creation experience takes about one hour and costs 8,000 yen per person (admission fee included, advance reservation required).
In addition, the museum also offers other hands-on experiences that allow visitors to experience Japanese culture, such as dressing up in kimonos and the tea ceremony, which is especially popular among foreign tourists.
