It is a shopping street that developed from a collection of stores that served foreign customers at the time of the opening of the port of Yokohama, which dates back more than 150 years ago. The 600-meter-long main street with a sophisticated Western-style atmosphere is lined with a wide variety of highly-sensitive stores, including apparel, sundry, interior and accessory stores. There are also many sophisticated cafes and restaurants, so it is also attractive that you can enjoy shopping slowly while taking a break.

It is also famous as the birthplace of "Hamatora" (short for Yokohama Traditional), a fashion style that took the world by storm in the 1970s and 1980s. The lineup includes a wide range of stores, from long-established and well-known stores frequented by locals to famous brands, the latest sweets stores, and unique stores. The area is also close to Japan's largest Chinatown, attracting tourists from all over the country.

The stores are lined with unique stores not only on the main street, but also on the back streets, so take plenty of time to enjoy them. In February and September, "Charming Sale" will be held, offering sale items, store-exclusive coupons, and limited quantities.
