Omaru Onsen Ryokan is a secluded hot spring inn located in the deepest parts of the popular Nasu Onsen resort area, nestled in a mountainous valley at an altitude of 1,300 meters. It has been a popular retreat since ancient times. The inn is known to have been frequented by General Nogi Maresuke for therapeutic bathing every year during the Meiji era, and there are exhibits related to General Nogi inside the inn.

The inn's pride is its hot springs, which boast the largest amount of hot spring water in the Nasu Onsen area. Guests can enjoy a variety of hot spring baths, including the natural open-air bath "Kawa no Yu," created by damming a river of hot spring water flowing from the inn's own source, and four other open-air baths of various sizes. The baths are fed directly from the source without heating or adding water (although there is some heating during certain seasons). The water is a simple spring, rich in metasilicic acid, which is said to have skin beautifying effects. In addition to the open-air baths, there are three different types of indoor baths and private baths available for reservation. Day-trip bathing is also possible.

The guest rooms are spread across the main building and an annex, each offering different styles. All the rooms are cozy, filled with the warmth of wood, providing a relaxing space for guests. The cuisine, which reflects the changing seasons, is another highlight. Ingredients are carefully selected from the local area of Nasu, maximizing the natural flavors of the food, and are beautifully presented.
