Auga Fresh Market
The kitchen of Aomori residents, packed with Aomori's delicious foods and fresh ingredients.
A popular market known as the kitchen of Aomori residents, offering a wide selection of locally produced ingredients and foods, including seafood, vegetables, fruit, processed foods, and sake, with a strong focus on quality and freshness.
Among the nearly 50 shops lining the market, fish stores stand out. Fresh seafood from nearby waters, including scallops and sea squirts from Mutsu Bay, tuna from Oma, and freshwater clams from Lake Jusan, is available at reasonable prices. There is also a wide selection of dried foods and processed products such as dried fish, dried scallops, and kelp. Seasonal fruit such as apples and grapes, as well as Approx. 200 varieties of local sake from breweries across the prefecture, are also popular. There is a rest area where you can enjoy what you buy on the spot, and there are also plenty of dining spots serving Aomori specialties such as seafood rice bowls topped with an abundance of seafood, scraped tuna, and local ramen.
The market is located in “Auga,” a multi-purpose complex that also houses the Aomori City Hall station-front branch and the city library. Its convenient location, within a 5-minute walk of Aomori Station, is another reason for its popularity.
