Homuraan Main Store is a specialty shop in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, that makes and sells yaki manju directly. Founded in 1981, it has been popular with both locals and visitors for over 40 years. Carefully selected domestically produced wheat and house-made koji are used. The dough is slowly fermented, then steamed until soft and fluffy with high-temperature steam. Another signature of Homuraan is its secret house-made miso sauce, passed down since the shop first opened, layered on repeatedly and grilled over charcoal for a fragrant finish.

There are two types of yaki manju: the simple standard version and a filled version with sweet bean paste. You can eat in starting from one skewer. Sets of 12, 16, and 20 pieces are also available, making them popular as souvenirs and gifts. The shop also offers an online store and frozen products, so many people say they can enjoy the Main Store’s flavor at home as well.
