Musashi Kyuryo National Government Park
Japan’s first national government park, where nature and fun come together.
A vast national park spread across the rolling hills that span Namegawa Town and Kumagaya City in Saitama Prefecture. Opened in 1974, it was Japan’s first national government park, with ponds, grassy open spaces, flower gardens, and wildflower trails scattered throughout grounds that make the most of the natural contours of the hills.
In spring, Approx. 400 cherry trees, mainly Somei Yoshino, burst into bloom and brighten the park alongside forsythia and wild cherry blossoms. From summer to fall, the flowers and trees shift with the seasons, making each visit a chance to enjoy a different landscape.
A favorite with children is “Pompoko Mountain,” one of the largest air trampolines in Japan. It’s a lively spot where kids can jump and play to their heart’s content. The park also offers plenty of activities that adults can enjoy, including athletic courses, a cycling course stretching Approx. 17 km, and Segway experiences, all set in nature. Families can enjoy the adventure playground and water play area, while visitors with pets can make use of the dog run, creating a space where a wide range of guests can spend time in their own way.
