Mizunomori Park

A vast natural park spanning Aoba Ward and Izumi Ward in Sendai City, it centers around the water-rich Sankyotei and Marutasawatei ponds and features natural forests of Japanese red pine and konara oak. Chosen as one of Sendai City's 100 Best Green Scenic Spots, it is a relaxing place where locals can enjoy lush greenery and waterside nature.

The park has wooded walking paths, where katakuri flowers and wild cherry blossoms bloom in spring, and great egrets spread their wings by the water. The scenery is also beautiful in early summer, when fresh green leaves shine, and in summer, when deep green trees envelop the park. In autumn, colorful leaves reflect across the water, and in winter, you may also spot swans that have migrated from Siberia resting here.

The forest is diverse, with mixed woodland, pine groves, and cedar forests, making it ideal for nature observation and walks. There is also a campground, where you can easily enjoy the outdoors by pitching a tent on the grass. Though easy to access from the city center, the park still preserves satoyama scenery and abundant nature.
