Last update :

A new tourist attraction in Sakai City featuring a tethered helium balloon that rises using only the buoyancy of helium gas. From Approx. 100 meters above the ground, visitors can enjoy a sweeping panoramic view of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group, as well as Sakai and the lush Daisen area.

From the pre-flight guidance to landing, the experience takes Approx. 30 minutes, with the flight itself lasting Approx. 10–13 minutes. This new style of sightseeing lets visitors “experience” the historic kofun burial mounds in a whole new way. You can clearly take in the full shape of the kofun, which is difficult to grasp from the ground, and feel their timeless romance and history.

Lifted only by the buoyancy of helium gas, the balloon rises silently and gently into the sky. Its soft, stable ride feels almost like floating, making it comfortable and reassuring for everyone from small children to older adults. As you slowly ascend as if riding on a cloud, you can directly take in the spectacular 360-degree views and the grandeur of this World Heritage site.

As you go up, you can see the cityscape of Sakai and the rivers, and when the weather is nice, you can even see Osaka in the distance. The overall atmosphere is very calm, and the breeze feels really nice.

Since it’s a tethered balloon, it doesn’t drift around, so it feels quite safe. Even if you’re afraid of heights but still want to give it a try, it’s manageable.
