Bordering downtown Tokushima, Mount Bizan is said to have been named for its eyebrow-like shape, visible from any direction. Its silhouette, even celebrated in the Manyoshu poetry anthology, has long blended into daily life and the cityscape, and it remains beloved by residents as a symbol of Tokushima City.

From the summit observation deck, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of downtown Tokushima and the Yoshino River, and on clear days, even the Onaruto Bridge and Awaji Island. The enchanting night view, selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Night Views, is also well worth seeing. In spring, many cherry blossoms bloom at Bizan Park on the summit and Seibu Park at the foot of the mountain, drawing crowds as popular cherry blossom viewing spots. In fall, the entire mountain becomes a beautiful destination for autumn foliage.

It takes just 6 minutes by ropeway from the foot of the mountain to the summit. Bizan Driveway is popular with runners and cyclists, and several walking paths and hiking trails make it possible to reach the top in a variety of ways. There is also a hotel with a restaurant known for its views and menu featuring local ingredients.
