Maeda Forest Park
Be moved by the straight line of poplar trees! A park that brings a sense of calm just by visiting.
Maeda Forest Park brings to life the concept of “surrounding the city of Sapporo with greenery” through the Circular Greenbelt Plan. Approx. 50% of the grounds are covered by forest.
From spring to summer, wisteria blooms across the pergolas and fresh green lawns spread out, making the park perfect for picnics and walks. In fall, the trees turn golden and captivate visitors with autumn colors, while in winter, a blanket of snow creates a magical atmosphere wrapped in silence.
The most impressive sight is the straight poplar avenue stretching 600 meters in length. The view continuing in a straight line with the central canal has an elegance reminiscent of a European garden. In the distance rises Mt. Teine, one of Sapporo’s famous peaks, and the perspective-enhancing composition has made it a popular photo spot.
Another appeal is the spacious grounds, large enough that it rarely feels crowded. It is also ideal for those who want to spend a quiet, relaxing time while experiencing the grand scale typical of Hokkaido.
