A facility where you can enjoy a hands-on experience making colorful konpeito.

Supervised by :  Osaka Toka Co., Ltd.

Konpeito came to Japan from Portugal approx. 480 years ago. It developed in its own unique way and is now a traditional Japanese sweet. At Konpeitou Museum Yao, you can customize the colors and flavors to your liking and make your own original konpeito.

For the handmade konpeito, you can choose from four colors: pink, blue, yellow, and green. Flavors include lemon, cider, cherry, pineapple, grape, and melon, and you can freely mix and match colors and flavors. You can make up to two kinds of each. Afterward, pack your konpeito in a jar or bag to take home. The facility also offers more than just making sweets: visitors can watch a DVD about the production process, history, and culture of konpeito, making it a fun place for parents and children to discover its appeal together.

The experience takes approx. 60 minutes. Groups of at least 10 people can also add a factory tour for an additional fee, where they can see artisans making konpeito in large rotating kettles up close. Konpeito is also available for purchase at the shop, making it perfect for souvenirs.
