Ashiya Summer Carnival

One of the Kansai region’s leading fireworks events, this festival takes place at Shio Ashiya Beach in Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. Known as a community-based event run mainly by local citizen volunteers, it centers around the area in front of Ashiya City General Park. During the day, there are also a citizen stage and festival stalls, making it fun for everyone from families to couples.

The biggest highlight is the powerful fireworks show featuring Approx. 6,000 fireworks. A major draw is the dynamic production, where flames, music, and fireworks move in sync, and the dreamlike show blending the night sky with the seaside is hugely popular as entertainment that goes beyond a typical fireworks festival. Since you can watch from the beach at close range while feeling the sea breeze, you can experience the full impact of the sound and light with your whole body.

In recent years, advance reservations have been required for the fireworks event from the standpoint of safety management, and admission requires either a reserved seating ticket or a Civic Plaza admission ticket. This glamorous festival, nurtured by the power of local residents, is a symbol of summer in Ashiya.
