The museum’s collection includes approx. 4,300 works, gathered according to three policies: “works by artists from the local area and works connected to Miyazaki Prefecture,” “works suitable for providing an overview of the development of Japanese art,” and “outstanding works from overseas.” Among them, the collection of Ei-Q, an avant-garde artist from Miyazaki City, is one of the largest in Japan, and the museum also holds a wide range of related materials. Other major highlights include works by international masters such as Picasso, Signac, Klee, Magritte, and Dalí, as well as an extensive collection of modern and contemporary Italian sculpture.

In addition, the collection exhibition (permanent exhibition) is free to view. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of works, from artists connected to Miyazaki to masters from overseas.
