I stopped by Shibuya Hikarie, a shopping center that combines shopping, food, and lifestyle offerings. This time, I browsed all the way up to the 5th floor and picked out several elegant and practical handkerchiefs in the household goods section as souvenirs for friends and family. After shopping, I went up to the 11th floor, where there is a free observation area offering views of Shibuya’s bustling streets and crowds from above. You can enjoy the city views while shopping, getting the best of both.

When I visited Shibuya Hikarie, I made a point of going upstairs to enjoy the free nighttime view. Looking down at the streets of Shibuya from above, the bustling Shibuya Scramble Crossing is what catches your eye the most. Crowds of people and streams of traffic crisscross as the lights from the surrounding buildings illuminate the entire city, creating a lively atmosphere that is uniquely Tokyo.

Watching pedestrians cross the intersection from every direction as the signals change, the dense crowds create an interesting scene. Shibuya is already bustling during the day, but looking down from above at night, you can feel the city's energy even more.

You can enjoy Shibuya's night view for free and take in the iconic crossing all at once, making this a worthwhile stop when visiting Shibuya.

While in Shibuya, I also stopped by Shibuya Hikarie! The location is really convenient, as it’s connected to Shibuya Station. You can go straight into the mall from the station without having to walk far. However, it was really crowded when I visited, and the whole mall was quite lively.

There are plenty of clothing stores, food shops, household goods stores, and restaurants inside, spread across many floors. If you want to take your time browsing, set aside a little extra time. It gets especially crowded during mealtimes, and there are often lines at popular restaurants. The shopping atmosphere really captures the bustling feel of Shibuya.

This is a favorite hangout for young people. There are lots of restaurants and the food is really good.

This department store is all about luxury, style, and trends. You can easily spend half your day here! I recommend grabbing a meal at the basement supermarket—there's a great selection of international foods.

You can get an amazing view of Shibuya from the 11th floor, and the best part is, it's free! Tip: Come in the morning so you can see Shibuya lit up by the sun behind you. If you come in the afternoon, you'll be facing the sunset. If you can't make it in the morning, try coming later in the afternoon to watch the city lights gradually turn on.
