Hasedera is a famous historic temple in Kamakura, built along a hillside and surrounded by greenery, making it feel especially peaceful as you walk around. What impressed me most was the tall Kannon statue. It was solemn and striking, and worshiping there also made me feel calm.

Following the temple path uphill, you can enjoy wide-open views of Kamakura and the ocean. Each season offers different scenery, and it's especially beautiful during flower season. Walking around and taking photos really made it feel like a trip.

After visiting Hasedera in person, I felt that it's not only a place of worship but also a place where you can slow down and appreciate nature, history, and culture. The overall atmosphere was comfortable and soothing, and it left a deep impression on me.

Came to Hasedera Temple for the fun of exploring.

Starting with that iconic pine tree by the entrance, there are thoughtful details everywhere. The landscaping and plants change with the seasons, and even the main deity—an 11-faced Kannon—is Japan’s largest wooden carved Buddha statue.

And the view of the ocean in Kamakura from the observation deck is something you can’t miss.

Hasedera is full of surprises—every turn seems to bring a little, unexpected beauty.

You can pair it with the nearby Kamakura Great Buddha. Doing both landmarks in one day works out perfectly.

The hydrangea season gets super crowded, so I recommend coming right when they open for the best photos.

The main deity here is the Eleven-Faced Kannon statue. You can also spot Jizo statues everywhere. There's a small path in the back that's nice for a stroll.

Hasedera has a huge area dedicated to hydrangeas, with so many different varieties. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to explore every corner and really take it all in.

The temple has beautiful scenery, and the famous 11-faced wooden Kannon statue is truly majestic.

The three statues are really cute. You can also try tracing Buddhist images here—it's a fun experience. Great place to visit with kids!
