Cherry blossom viewing at Shinobazu Pond in Ueno, Tokyo. As I walked along the pond, one cherry tree after another was in full bloom on both sides, with the soft pink blossoms reflected on the water. The whole view was truly beautiful!

During cherry blossom season, lots of people gather by the pond to enjoy the flowers, creating a very lively atmosphere. Look up and you see cherry blossoms everywhere; look down and you see the pond and surrounding scenery. No matter how you take your photos, they’re full of the feeling of spring.

At Shinobazu Pond in Ueno Park in early spring, the scenery still has some of the bleakness of fall and winter. The trees along the pond have yet to sprout new leaves, without the liveliness of spring flowers. Walking slowly along the pond and watching the occasional person pedal a swan boat across the water, the bustle of the city seems far away. It's a great place to stop and enjoy a quiet moment. By early summer, the pond takes on a completely different appearance, with broad lotus leaves spreading across the water and soft pink lotus flowers blooming one after another. The scenery is fresh and full of life. Each season has its own charm, but the lotus season is especially worth making a special trip to see.

I wasn’t expecting much, but it looked way better in person than in the photos. It somehow feels slow and laid-back even though you’re in Tokyo—super relaxing.

At Shinobazu Pond, you can enjoy both a walk and boating while viewing cherry blossoms. It's definitely worth a visit in April!

Part of Shinobazu Pond is covered with lotus flowers, making it a great spot to enjoy them. You can also rent a boat and have fun on the pond. Highly recommended!
