All Reviews of The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace

I didn’t expect to find such a large green space for a walk in central Tokyo! This time, I planned a visit to the Imperial Palace East Gardens. After entering from the bustling city, the surroundings suddenly became much quieter, and I couldn’t feel the hustle and bustle of central Tokyo at all.

The garden preserves historic remains of Edo Castle, including stone walls, castle gates, and the ruins of the main keep. Walking around while enjoying the garden scenery, I really felt the blend of history and nature.

The East Gardens are gardens within the Imperial Palace. They were once the site of Edo Castle's Honmaru, Ninomaru, and Sannomaru compounds, and you can see historic remains such as the foundation of the main keep and stone walls. The grounds are lush and green, and the garden scenery is also beautiful, making it a nice place for a leisurely walk.

Edo Castle in the fall is almost unfairly beautiful! The slightly cool weather, paired with golden leaves covering the ground, makes walking through the spacious castle ruins feel like a movie scene.

The shoguns of the past may be gone, but the impressive gates, moats, and stone walls still feel incredibly grand. I couldn’t help stopping every few steps to take photos.

I originally thought I could see it all in half a day, but the more I walked, the more hooked I got. It felt like exploring through different stages of an adventure, and before I knew it, several hours had passed.

If you’re visiting Tokyo, don’t just focus on shopping. Set aside some time for a walk around Edo Castle. You’ll realize history can be this charming!
