Profile

I mainly write and edit articles about travel, railways, and hot springs.
I love traveling because it lets me just zone out in all kinds of places.
I keep goldfish and axolotls.
I also like carnivorous plants, but I ended up killing them.
My book: “Common Things Railway Otaku Do: A Lovable Field Guide to Train Fans (TWJ books)

The best place I recommend if you’re traveling to Japan

Sluice Gates
Iwabuchi Sluice Gate on the Sumida River (Kita City, Tokyo), sluice gates at Tadami Dam (Tadami, Fukushima Prefecture)
They make a great picture, including the surrounding scenery.
Lakes and Ponds
Mishaka Pond (Chino, Nagano Prefecture)
It’s a beautiful and mystical lake no matter what time of year you visit.
Stations
Komatsu Station (Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture)
Right outside the station, you’ll find an impressively huge KOMATSU heavy machine. If you’re traveling through Hokuriku, this is definitely a spot worth stopping by.

Things You Absolutely Should Do When You Visit Japan

Taking a ride on one of the sightseeing trains running across Japan.
These trains offer much more than scenic views along the route, with many also letting you fully enjoy local food and culture.
