TOKIYA
TOKIYA is a Japanese sweets café located on the 1st floor of Shinjuku West Exit HALC, about a 1-minute walk from the West Exit of Shinjuku Station. It has been serving customers in Shinjuku since it opened in 1948. With table seating and the nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional sweets café, it offers dorayaki and other sweets as well as savory dishes.
It’s not like those upscale dessert shops with elaborate packaging inside department stores, but instead has a strong old Tokyo atmosphere. The signature dorayaki has a soft outer layer and a generous amount of red bean filling, with the taste of a traditional Japanese sweet. One thing to note is that it’s fairly sweet, so if you don’t like things too sweet, I recommend sharing one between two people. Overall, it’s a small shop suitable for travelers who enjoy a nostalgic style.
