Uroko House (Former Harrier Residence)

Uroko House (Former Harrier Residence) is located in Kobe Kitano Ijinkan district, an area where Western-style residences built by foreign settlers line the hillside following the opening of Kobe Port. Of the more than 30 historic foreign residences that still remain today, Uroko House was the first to be opened to the public. It is believed to have been built in the former foreign settlement in the late Meiji period and later relocated to its current site during the Taisho era. The building is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan and is also selected as one of Hyogo Prefecture’s Top 100 Historic Houses.

Daio Wasabi Farm

The biggest Wasabi farm started cultivating in 1917. 120 thousand tons of melted snow at an average of 13℃ is gushing every day from the northern Alps at a huge farm of about 15 hectares, in which Wasabi is cultured.

Myojin Pond

Ketsumi-mikono-okami is enshrined here. The shrine was built during the era of Japan’s 10th emperor, Sujin. Designated as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2004.

Nachi Waterfall

Kumano-Nachi Taisha is the main shrine of over 4000 Kumano Shrines dotting Japan. This waterfall stands within the holy area, The grandest fall in Japan is 133m-tall, 13m-wide at the mouth, where water begins to fall, and the plunge pool is 10m-deep, and pours over 1 ton/second of water through three wedges which merges as one fall, thus called “Three Stream Fall.”

Kumano Kodo Path

Kumano Kodo is the path leading to the three Kumano Mountains (Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha and Mt. Nachisan Seiganto Temple). While Kumano faith was rising, noble families used this path to come to Kumano, which was later spread to the general public.

Mount Takao

Mount Takao is a peak with an levation of 599 meters, located in Tokyo’s Hachioji City. With good transportation access, it’s a popular placee to go mountain climbing. Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine stands on the island of Itsukushima, which is also known as the island of gods. It is said that the shrine was founded in 593 by Saeki no Kuramoto, and the 3 goddess “Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto,” “Tagorihime-no-Mikoto,” and “Tagitsuhime-no-Mikoto” are enshrined there. Famous for granting a wide list of benefits, these three goddesses as are worshipped as the goddesses of the sea, transportation, fortune, and art.

Kinrin Lake

Kinrin Lake is one of many popular tourist spots in the hot springs town of Yufuin. The lake sits under Mt. Yufu and as such was called takemoto-no-ike (lit. “lake under the mountain”) for years. However, it was renamed to Kinrin, or “golden scales”, by Mori Kuso in 1884 when he saw the golden glimmering scales of fish as they swam at sunset.
