I was already planning to buy ReFa products, so I came straight to the GINZA flagship store to look around. The Ginza store’s interior design is really distinctive, with a high-quality feel and a boutique-like atmosphere. The shopping experience was excellent.

GariGarikun Soda

Japan’s classic ice treat, GariGarikun Soda, is a simple yet exceptionally well-crafted frozen treat made with soda-flavored ice on the outside and crunchy shaved ice on the inside. Its defining feature is this two-layer structure, with outer ice and inner shaved ice, allowing you to enjoy two different textures in one bar. Along with its refreshing soda flavor, it is also a long-selling product that has been loved by a wide range of generations, from children to adults, for many years.

One of the popsicles I buy most often in the summer is GariGarikun Soda. It’s refreshing, not too sweet, and really hits the spot on a hot day.

Takarazuka Hotel

Takarazuka Hotel in Takarazuka, Hyogo, is the official hotel of Takarazuka Grand Theater, which opened in 1926 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary on May 14, 2026. It relocated in 2020 to a site just west of Takarazuka Grand Theater. It is also easy to access, about a 4-minute walk from Takarazuka Station on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line and about a 7-minute walk from Takarazuka Station on the JR Takarazuka Line, and is beloved by many fans of the Takarazuka Revue.

The hotel interior keeps an elegant vintage style. Everything from the staircase and hallways to the lounge areas is beautifully designed.
I especially loved the lobby. It’s spacious, bright, and full of classic charm.

Keio Department Store, Shinjuku is a large department store directly connected to Keio Line Shinjuku Station. It spans 11 floors from B1F to RF, covering a wide range of categories including food, cosmetics, daily goods, fashion, and restaurants. Since opening in 1964, it has been popular with shoppers of all ages for its diverse selection and comfortable spaces.

If you're taking the Keio Line or staying near Shinjuku's west exit, it's super convenient to stop by before heading back to your hotel. You can find fruit, prepared foods, or late-night snacks, and there are lots of dessert shops in the underground area. They also often have limited-edition items.

Kadoya Hotel

Kadoya Hotel is a long-standing hotel, operating in Nishi-Shinjuku for over half a century. Its location is outstanding, located just about 3 minutes on foot from the west exit of JR Shinjuku Station, the Toei Shinjuku Line’s Shinjuku Station, and the Toei Oedo Line’s Tochomae Station.

It's really close to Shinjuku Station. Even with luggage, it's only a few minutes on foot, which makes it super convenient for independent travelers.

Kenroku-en was founded and developed for about 180 years by the Maeda clan lord in Kaga, which is a strolling-style landscape garden and one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan.

Kenroku-en is really beautiful, especially with the refined atmosphere of a Japanese garden. The pond, pine trees, and little bridges come together in such a distinctly Japanese way. The quiet, relaxing feeling you get there is something photos just can’t fully capture.

The texture is super watery. It spreads like a mix of toner and lotion, so I don’t mind using it generously on larger areas of my body.

Best part: it doesn’t make my hair stick to my neck, which is a huge plus.

Omoide Yokocho

Walk just 2 minutes from the West Exit of Shinjuku Station to find yourself at a retro pub alley. With ticket shops and around 80 different establishments offering delicious food and drinks, it's a great place to enjoy the local cuisine and atmosphere.

The whole alley has such a strong Showa-era vibe. It’s small, but really lively—like stepping into a scene from an old Japanese movie.

Kabukicho

Kabukicho is the entertainment district that sits just steps from the east exit of Shinjuku Station. It’s a major hub for izakaya pubs, amusement centers and nightlife spots to enjoy after hours. With neon signs lit up through the entire night, it’s earned the nickname of “the city that never sleeps”.

It feels like two completely different worlds during the day and at night. At night, Kabukicho has more character and feels more "real."

Kinokuniya Books Shinjuku Main Store

Standing along Shinjuku Dori, at the East Exit of Shinjuku Station, is Kinokuniya, a major bookseller. Since its establishment in 1927, it has been a mainstay of Shinjuku, supporting its development in shopping. Completed in 1964, the current Kinokuniya Building wash chosen as a building of historical value by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 2017.

This place is seriously huge, and the selection is almost ridiculously extensive. You can find books in Chinese, English, and Japanese, and the stationery and magazine sections are great too. It’s more than just a bookstore.

There are also lots of Japan-only items, so it’s a perfect spot if you want to slow down and spend some quiet time browsing.
