Fukui Station
The gateway to Fukui City, where the Hokuriku Shinkansen and a third-sector railway meet. In addition to JR West's Hokuriku Shinkansen and Happiline Fukui's Happiline Fukui Line, it also offers smooth connections to Echizen Railway, Fukui Railway, and local bus routes. In front of the station, life-size dinosaur monuments are scattered around, making it a popular photo spot.
As soon as you get off at Fukui Station, you really feel like you're in the “Dinosaur Kingdom”! Dinosaur-themed features are everywhere around the station, and the huge dinosaur statues are the most eye-catching. Together with the station building, they give the area a very distinctive look. I was drawn in before I had even started exploring Fukui!
This was my first visit to Fukui Station, and it felt like more than just a place to transfer between different modes of transportation. It was more like a small dinosaur-themed attraction. The design of Dinosaur Plaza is especially interesting, and there are moving dinosaur displays, so you won't get bored while waiting for your train.
