The later it gets, the livelier it becomes—more vibrant than I expected. Although it was crowded, everything felt pretty orderly and not chaotic. Restaurants, izakayas, and bars stay open late into the night, so it’s super convenient if you want a late-night bite or a drink. You definitely don’t have to worry about finding a place. It had more energy than I imagined.

HMV&BOOKS NAMBA
HMV&BOOKS NAMBA is a multi-format entertainment store based on the theme of “a space where customers encounter, experience, and resonate with entertainment.” Another appealing point is that it is directly connected to Namba Station, making it comfortable to visit even on rainy days.
There are so many books—manga, novels, magazines, and art/design titles are all easy to find. The store is really comfortable, and everything is clearly organized. It’s not just books, either; they also have music, stationery, and merch, so you can take your time browsing for hidden gems.

Chunichi Building
Chunichi Building, which opened in April 2024, is a mixed-use complex in the Sakae area of Nagoya. From B1F to 5F, it offers a wide variety of shops, including restaurants, cafes, general goods stores, and local product shops, and its greatest appeal is that visitors can enjoy food, shopping, and sightseeing all in one place. Directly connected to the underground mall and easy to access, it is also conveniently located as a base for sightseeing.
I didn’t expect to find such an amazing free night view in downtown Nagoya. The view from the 7th-floor observation deck is fantastic, and the city lights at night have a really classy feel. Looking out over all of downtown Nagoya from above feels completely different from the daytime.

GRANSTA TOKYO
GRANSTA TOKYO is JR East’s largest train station mall. The huge open space with the sign “SQUARE ZERO” hosts select sweets shops, cafes, restaurants and general stores, which looks like a town itself.
If you’re taking the Shinkansen or JR, you’ll probably pass through here. Before I knew it, I had spent almost an hour browsing around.
