Ate at COCO'S family restaurant and ordered a gratin. The hot cheese with the rich sauce was simple but very satisfying, and the drink bar had a nice variety too! The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, and the seating was perfect for chatting at a leisurely pace.
Rather than famous places that tourists have to try, I prefer family restaurants like this that Japanese people also go to regularly~

Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park
One of Japan’s first national parks, established in 1934. Stretching across Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures, this vast park is made up of a chain of huge caldera volcanoes and is divided into two areas: the northern Kirishima area and the southern Kinkowan (Kagoshima Bay) area. In the northern Kirishima area, where more than 20 large and small volcanoes line up, highlights include landscapes that showcase nature’s grandeur, such as crater lakes and summit marshlands formed by volcanic activity.

Io World Kagoshima City Aquarium
Located at Kagoshima Port, the Io World Kagoshima City Aquarium offers stunning views of the iconic Sakurajima volcano across Kinko Bay. The aquarium is home to approximately 10,000 creatures from 800 species, primarily those inhabiting the waters of Kagoshima, including the Kuroshio Current and the Nansei Islands. The "Kurosio Great Water Tank" is a major draw, featuring fish like whale sharks, tuna, and bonito that travel with the Kuroshio Current.
The Kagoshima City Aquarium is located right next to the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal. The building’s exterior was inspired by a stingray, making it quite distinctive. Inside, there are extensive marine life exhibits, and visitors can also learn about Kagoshima’s unique Kuroshio waters and volcanic marine ecosystem.
The most impressive feature is the spectacular Kuroshio Great Water Tank, where you can get an up-close look at large marine animals such as whale sharks, tuna, bonito, and manta rays swimming through the water. It’s an incredible sight that makes you feel as if you’re in an underwater world! -

Takachiho Gorge
Takachiho Gorge is a narrow v-shaped chasm made over thousands of years by the Gokase River’s erosion of Mt. Aso’s volcanic rock. This spectacular place is surrounded by cliffs that average 80 meters in height (reaching up to 100 meters) and extend along for 7 kilometers. Takachiho Gorge has been designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty.
The scenery at Takachiho Gorge is very beautiful, with towering rock walls on both sides, emerald-green water flowing through the gorge, and lush greenery dotting the landscape. The entire area is filled with a sense of nature. You can also see people rowing small boats through the gorge, creating an extremely poetic scene~ It feels like stepping into a landscape painting!
