This was my second trip to Lake Kawaguchi. The first time I visited, I was with a tour group, so my time was somewhat limited and I couldn’t really slow down and leisurely enjoy the captivating scenery. This time, I specifically arranged to stay at a cozy little guesthouse near the station. As soon as I arrived, I rented a bicycle and wandered freely along the lakeshore, stopping to walk around and take photos whenever I saw a view I liked. When I got hungry, I had a casual picnic by the lake, enjoying delicious food while admiring the cherry blossoms in full bloom in early spring.

I was incredibly lucky this time. Not only did I see the dreamlike reflection of Mt. Fuji in Lake Kawaguchi and the mysterious Red Fuji, but I also stopped by to admire the magnificent scenery of beautiful moss phlox in full bloom. My love for Lake Kawaguchi grew even deeper through this more immersive trip. I’ve already made a quiet wish to come back in the fall to see the autumn leaves and experience completely different seasonal scenery.

In addition to the spectacular daytime views, I also took a nighttime walk under the stars and ended the day with delicious wagyu yakiniku at a cozy little restaurant near Lake Kawaguchi. Everything about this trip became one of my most cherished memories.
