The admission fees here are really high, but it didn't live up to my expectations. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed!

Kama-to no Mori
A space combining a cafe, a lifestyle goods shop, and a gallery in Shigaraki, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Operated by Shigaraki ware producer Kato Co., Ltd., Kama-to no Mori opened in 2013 on the former site of an 80-meter-long tunnel kiln that had operated for 40 years. Shigaraki ware is still produced at the adjacent factory, offering a close-up sense of the craftsmanship behind this pottery tradition.
I originally just came to check out the Shigaraki ware, but the whole space turned out to be really interesting. The pottery, plants, and art displays all blend together, and every corner is photogenic.

Asuwa River Cherry Tree Promenade
The Asuwa River flows through central Fukui City. The rows of cherry trees lining the embankment, loved by locals as a walking course, are a popular cherry blossom viewing spot and have been selected as one of Japan’s 100 best cherry blossom spots.
The kind of place where you immediately want to keep taking pictures. Both sides of the river are lined with cherry blossoms, and when they’re in full bloom, it’s honestly incredible. So pink everywhere.
The path is flat and easy to walk, so it’s really nice for a stroll while enjoying the blossoms. You’ll also see lots of locals jogging or walking their dogs, which gives the whole area a very everyday, relaxed feel.

Michi-no-Eki Itoman
One of Okinawa’s largest roadside stations sits along National Route 331, about a 20-minute drive from Naha Airport. The entire property sings with the fishing town character of Itoman, complete with a jaw-dropping variety of succulently fresh seafood, local fruits and vegetables, and regional specialties.
This is a lively roadside station in southern Okinawa. They have all kinds of local fruits, veggies, and seafood at really reasonable prices. You can also find Okinawa-exclusive souvenirs here. There are plenty of food stalls too—try the sea grapes or bitter melon dishes for something unique. The place is clean, parking is easy, and it's perfect for a quick stop to restock during your trip.
