Sado Nishimikawa Gold Park
Sado Nishimikawa Gold Park is an interactive facility where visitors can experience the history of Sado, once famed as a gold-producing region. It stands on the site of the legendary Nishimikawa Gold Mine, which appears in tales from the Heian and Kamakura periods. In the Sengoku era, it provided war funds for Uesugi Kenshin, and during the Edo period, it served as an important financial resource for the Tokugawa shogunate. Visitors can learn about the dynamic mining method known as Oonagashi (“Great Washing”), which once supported the mine’s prosperity, through detailed models and video displays.
The intermediate and advanced gold panning activities are pretty tiring. If you squat for a long time or use your arms a lot, you'll definitely feel sore.

Hakone-en Aquarium
This aquarium is located on the premises of composite facilities, Hakone-en. It is the only aquarium with a large seawater tank and located at the highest above sea level of 723 m in Japan, which is called “an aquarium built in the forest”.
The tickets are not expensive, and both the animals and the shows inside are really impressive.

Boating down Hozugawa
Hozu River starts from Tanba Plateau. A small boat with a flat bottom will go down the River for 16km from Kameoka to Saga Arashiyama in two hours. Experienced three boatmen steer the vessel through the rocky gorge. A truly dynamic boat tour on the current.
The scenery is beautiful, and while you're on the boat, the boatmen will even chat with you.
