You can spot Yayoi Kusama's Red Pumpkin as soon as you arrive on Naoshima. It's already become a symbol of the island.

Iwakuni Castle
Grandson of Mori Motonari, the first Lord of Iwakuni, Kikkawa Hiroie, built this mountain castle in 1608. Nishiki River, which flows right below, is also the outer moat of the castle that stands on a mountain 200m above sea level. The 3-layer, 4-story architecture is in the special Chinese style with higher floors bigger than lower floors.
After visiting Kintaikyo Bridge, I took the ropeway and stopped by Iwakuni Castle. The views and scenery were pretty nice.

Kibitsuhiko Shrine
The main deity is Okibitsuhiko no Mikoto, who is said to be the model for the old tale "Momotaro" and is also worshipped as a god of both literary and military prowess who has protected the land of Kibi since ancient times.
This shrine is dedicated to the original model for Momotaro. It's really close to the station, so it's easy to find.
