Atami Tensui

Atami Tensui is an auberge facility (a restaurant with rooms) located in the popular hot spring resort town of Atami and is accessible in 50 minutes from Tokyo. Their 19 guestrooms are unique and stylish. The room styles include a Japanese twin room with an outside bath in the private terrace with a sofa and sea view, a Japanese-Western style room which unifies the two styles well, a guestroom with a king size bed in Japanese or Western style, and a 8 tatami mat rooms in traditional Japanese style.

This auberge serves very interesting dishes, such as the first appetizer mixing Japanese and Western styles, the second appetizer is a beautiful colored sashimi plate using fresh local fish, and Japanese roasted beef. Their creative Japanese kaiseki style meal displays the chef’s talent and ambitious ideas. The menu uses the best local foods in that season. Fall example are matsutake mushroom, ebi-imo potato, chessnuts, ginkgo nuts, abalone, pacific saury fish, and more.

After the meal, the hot spring bath is next. This spring water is soft and mildly alkaline, and produces lovely effects on the skin (so called “water for beautiful women”). In addition to the open-air bath overlooking Sagami Bay, guests can enjoy a large main bath, a jet bath, and a themed bath featuring the season's specialties.
