Atami Trick Art Museum

Atami Trick Art Museum is the beguiling hilltop destination set with views out over Nishikigaura in Atami. Step inside to find a full roster of trick art collections designed by specialized artists, including flat paintings that appear three-dimensional, optical illusions, and images that change depending how you look at it.

The museum collections holds about 50 different works to explore including vivid animal depictions, beasts of the sea and parody takes of famed paintings. In April 2023, select zones of the exhibit saw renovations, meaning there’s plenty of fresh sections to explore on a second or later visit. Photography and video recording are encouraged here, allowing you to capture fun moments like a snap with cute animals or a moment of pretend panic before being almost eaten by sharks and dinosaurs. Staff are always on hand to offer details about each work or tips on how to grab the best photo.
