Opened in 2016, Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal stands as one of Japan’s largest highway bus terminals, located at JR Shinjuku Station’s South Exit. With around 90 bus operators serving the terminal, it connects destinations from Aomori in the north to Fukuoka in the south, with over 1,600 bus departures daily.
Before Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal was built, highway bus stops were scattered across 19 different locations around Shinjuku Station. By consolidating them into one central hub, ride with east thanks to seamless transfers between buses, trains, and taxis. The terminal is directly connected to JR Shinjuku Station’s South Gate, allowing for smooth, weather-protected access.
Last-minute travel essentials are available via convenience stores and souvenir shops on the 4th floor. The 3rd floor houses the highway bus arrival area, taxi stands, and the Tokyo Tourist Information Center, which offers multilingual support in Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean, along with sightseeing information for Tokyo and beyond.
