Yoshikawa

Located midway along Uonotana Shopping Street, Yoshikawa is known for serving Akashi specialties such as Akashiyaki and octopus rice. Since opening in the 1960s, it has been loved by locals in Akashi for many years. Its exterior retains the feel of a traditional local eatery and blends naturally into the atmosphere of the neighborhood shopping street.

The signature item is the fluffy, light “Akashiyaki,” made with plenty of eggs. It stands out for the savory flavor of octopus and a gentle sweetness, and is cooked with very little oil. It is served with an original broth so sincere you might want to call it “majime na odashi.” Light yet rich, it is the kind of flavor you could enjoy every day without getting tired of it. In addition to ordering it on its own, set meals with octopus rice or small side dishes are also popular. Alternating bites of Akashiyaki and sips of broth lets you enjoy the changing texture and flavor.
