Known as the site of one of Japan’s largest wind farms, this scenic spot features a gently maintained plateau created by cultivating the summit area of Mt. Nunobiki into a tableland. At an elevation of Approx. 1,000 m, 33 giant wind turbines stand in a row, and the location also offers sweeping views of Mt. Bandai and Lake Inawashiro below.
Seasonal flowers are another highlight. In summer, a vast sunflower field of Approx. 9 hectares comes into bloom, while in autumn, a 70-are cosmos field reaches full bloom, making the plateau even more colorful. The sunflower season is especially popular, when 1.8 million sunflowers are in full bloom and many visitors come to see and photograph the striking combination of flowers and wind turbines. Every year in late August, the Koriyama Nunobiki Kaze no Kogen Festival is also held, featuring daikon harvesting experiences and walking events.
Please note that the area is closed due to snow from December to late April, and entry is not allowed during that period.
