Minamiaso Railway

This local railway supports daily life as a community-based public transportation service while also running along the southern foothills of Mt. Aso, making it a popular way to explore the area. It covers a 17.7 km route from Tateno Station to Takamori Station.

On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays from mid-March to late November each year, the sightseeing trolley train "Yuusuge-go" operates as a special seasonal service. On clear days, the windows are opened, letting you feel the fresh highland breeze while taking in the grand views of the Aso Five Peaks, spring-fed water sources, and the dramatic scenery of Tateno Gorge up close.
