This beach is located about Approx. 25 minutes by car from Miyakojima Airport, directly opposite Kurima Bridge. “Musunun” means “insect repelling” in the Miyakojima language, and every spring, the sacred ritual “Musunun Ugan” is held to pray for a bountiful harvest and good health for the island.

Because it is not well known among tourists, there are few people here, making it ideal for those who want to quietly enjoy the sea. Waves tend to be high throughout the year, so it is not suitable for swimming or snorkeling, but you can still fully enjoy Miyako’s crystal-clear sea and white sandy beach.
It is also located on the western side of Kurima Island and is known as one of the island’s best sunset spots. With nothing blocking the view, you can take your time watching the sun sink below the horizon. The sight of the sky and sea gradually turning orange is breathtaking, and the magic hour after sunset, when the sky is colored in a blue and orange gradient, is also not to be missed.

It has not been developed as a tourist destination and is also a sacred place for local people, so please be mindful of the rules and proper manners when visiting.

I felt relaxed as soon as I got there. The water is crystal clear, and the beach is pretty clean too. Walking by the shore with the sea breeze feels really nice, and it doesn’t get too noisy.
Compared with beaches that are packed with tourists, this one has a quieter, more laid-back vibe.
