Shirotori Zoo
A zoo where you can meet wonderfully free-spirited animals.
This cozy, homey zoo lets you see and interact with animals in their natural, relaxed state, with rabbits freely roaming the grounds and even large animals like elephants and giraffes up close. The zoo keeps Approx. 75 species of animals, from mammals and birds to reptiles, and you can also view powerful animals such as hyenas, lions, and the rare white tiger from a close distance.
One of its biggest draws is that you can interact with nearly all the animals in the zoo, from cuddling newborn baby animals to feeding your favorite animals directly, from small ones like rabbits and guinea pigs to large ones like elephants. Another reason for its popularity is the live performances on the stage inside the zoo, including the "Animal Show" and the "Dog Show."
There are also plenty of animal interaction events and hands-on programs, such as feeding times for giraffes and lions, otter handshaking events, and horseback riding experiences for elementary school children and younger, making it popular with both families and couples. On weekdays and on Animal Day, held several times a month, visitors can also freely walk around the zoo with their pets, whether dogs, cats, birds, or other animals, as long as they are on a leash or in a cage.
