Hawai Onsen Bokoro
The only hot spring inn in Japan where you can enjoy 100% free-flowing natural hot spring water in an open-air bath on the lake.
A traditional Japanese inn in Hawai Onsen, one of Tottori’s best-known hot spring areas. Lined along the shore of Lake Togo, the inns in this hot spring town look as if they are floating on the water, and this one stands out among them. It is known for its signature open-air bath floating on the lake, the only one of its kind in Japan.
Across the vermilion-lacquered bridge leading from the inn to the lake is an open-air bath with panoramic views that make you feel as if you are soaking in the lake itself. As you look out over the lake surface, which changes with the seasons and time of day, you can fully enjoy an open, relaxing moment. In addition, the open-air bath and large communal bath use abundant natural hot spring water pumped up from the lakebed, 100% free-flowing from the source with no added water or heating.
The lake can also be seen in full from the inn’s wide variety of guest rooms, including rooms with open-air baths, corner rooms with large windows facing the lake, and designer Japanese-style rooms with a modern feel. Dinner features kaiseki cuisine that makes the most of seasonal flavors. You can enjoy carefully selected ingredients from Tottori and the San’in region, including large freshwater clams from Lake Togo, Tottori wagyu beef, and Matsuba Daisen soba.
