There are lots of old trees everywhere. If you walk in from the main path and turn into the inner garden, you'll find a beautiful garden and pond.

It has the largest wooden torii gate in Japan, made from Taiwan's Danda Mountain, also known as Alishan. Walking through the gate and down the path, with trees on both sides, brings a sense of unexpected calm.

If you're in Tokyo, Meiji Jingu Shrine is definitely worth a visit!

The huge torii gate inside is the largest wooden Myojin torii in Japan⛩️. It's 12 meters tall, 17.1 meters wide, with a diameter of 1.2 meters, and weighs 13 tons. It's made from cypress wood from Alishan in Taiwan.

After passing through the first big torii gate, you'll soon see the walls of sake barrels and wine barrels. These were offered by Japanese merchants to the Emperor, and since the Emperor liked Western wine, you can see both Japanese and Western styles displayed together.

It's pretty rare to find such a powerful and energetic spot right in the middle of Tokyo!

Harajuku Station outside the shrine used to be the oldest wooden station in Tokyo. Now that the old station has been torn down, I feel a bit sad and it's such a shame.

It's a short walk from JR Harajuku Station. As soon as you enter, you'll see the huge torii gate made from wood from Alishan. The shrine itself is peaceful and solemn, while Takeshita Street across from the station is lively and bustling. The contrast is really striking.

The first day of the year, you just have to come here for some good luck.

When I visited for worship, I happened to see a Japanese wedding ceremony. It felt solemn and really special.

Meiji Jingu has a huge green forest area, which is pretty rare in such a lively part of Tokyo. If you're lucky, you might even spot rabbits or squirrels and other wildlife.
