It has the largest wooden torii gate in Japan, made from Taiwan's Danda Mountain, also known as Alishan. Walking through the gate and down the path, with trees on both sides, brings a sense of unexpected calm.

Mt. Senkoji Ropeway
The Mt. Senkoji Ropeway is a throughway connecting Nagaeguchi Station at the base to Senkoji-yama Station at the summit of Mount Senkoji, a 144.2 meter-tall towering member of Onomichi’s three famed peaks.
The ropeway ride only takes a few minutes, but the view is amazing. As soon as you get to the top, you can see the whole Onomichi Port laid out before you.

Beppu Ropeway
The Beppu Ropeway connects Beppu-Kōgen Station, located at the foot of Tsurumi-dake, to Tsurumi-Sanjo Station at an altitude of 1,300 meters. Spanninga steep 1,816-meter ascent in about 10 minutes, it offers a smooth yet thrilling journey up the mountain. Measuring in at a whopping 12 meters long and 8 meters wide, you’re in for a cozy, spacious ride on one of Kyushu’s largest gondolas. Expect top-notch safety and top-class rides since its opening in 1962.
It only takes about 10 minutes to get to the top. Super easy and convenient to reach such a high altitude!
