Rikugien Gardens is one of Tokyo’s most iconic Japanese gardens and, together with Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens, is known as one of the “Two Great Gardens of Edo.” As soon as you enter, you can feel the peaceful atmosphere, completely different from central Tokyo.

The grounds are lush and green, with the pond, trees, and traditional garden scenery complementing one another. It’s very relaxing to stroll around, as if you’ve temporarily escaped the noise of the city. It’s a great place to slow down and enjoy forest bathing and plenty of phytoncides.

There is also a park and children’s play equipment near the entrance, making it convenient for families. If you’re visiting Tokyo and want a laid-back, relaxing place for a walk, Rikugien Gardens is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.

Cherry blossom viewing here is nice, but it gets way too crowded, so it's hard to really enjoy the scenery.

Only the weeping cherry tree at the entrance is really pretty—the rest are just okay.

Rikugien is a classic Japanese stroll garden with ponds, woods, walking paths, wooden bridges, and all kinds of flowers. There’s so much to see, you could easily spend a whole day here and still not get enough. Highly recommended!

This Japanese garden is absolutely beautiful. I visited during the fall foliage season, and the scenery was just stunning. I haven't been in other seasons yet, but I've heard the snow-covered pines in winter are also charming. I'll definitely come back next time to see that.

The autumn leaves at Rikugien, a classic Edo period garden, are just as stunning as the famous spots in Kyoto. It's not too crowded during the day, but in the evening, a lot of people suddenly show up. The illuminated night maple leaves are definitely a highlight here.

I wish I could buy a house here and live forever—it's just so beautiful I don't want to go back to Taiwan.

This is truly an amazing spot for cherry blossom and autumn leaves viewing. The scenery is so beautiful, it really takes your breath away.
