The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is definitely a must-visit food destination for ramen lovers visiting Yokohama! The museum's perfectly recreated retro setting instantly transports you back to the streets of Japan in 1958, complete with a sunset atmosphere. From the street signs to the old-fashioned storefronts, every corner has a great nostalgic feel for photos.

The biggest attraction is being able to try famous ramen shops from across Japan all in one place! You can easily sample places like Hakata Issou, known for its rich, frothy tonkotsu and seafood broth, and Ryu Shanghai from Akayu, Yamagata. The shops thoughtfully offer half-size mini ramen, so you can try several without getting too full. It satisfies both your nostalgia and your taste buds, and is definitely worth adding to your itinerary!

Billed as the world's first ramen-themed food amusement park, admission is JPY 450. On the first floor, they sell packaged ramen and souvenirs from all over Japan, and you can also make your own customized ramen.

What surprised me most wasn't the ramen, but how stepping downstairs felt like traveling back in time. It was filled with Showa-era streetscapes, neon lights, and nostalgic decor, making it a really atmospheric place for photos.

I tried ramen from two shops this time, and their broths, noodles, and textures were quite different. You can choose based on the flavors you prefer.

You have to pay an entrance fee just to try the ramen. Even though the shops are famous, the taste wasn’t anything special.

The ramen shops inside seem pretty famous. Around mealtime, you’ll see a lot of local office workers lining up here to eat.

As soon as you step into the basement, you really feel the retro Showa era vibe. Some of the ramen shops are pretty famous. I tried two and both were delicious. Then I sat in the plaza and had a bottle of milk to cut the greasiness—perfect!
