I had been looking forward to the sunset and afterglow by the lake, but unfortunately, it was cloudy, so I didn't get to see the spectacular sight of the sun setting.
Although the golden glow was missing, Lake Biwa, covered by clouds across the sky, had a unique sense of tranquility and depth. A gentle breeze swept over the water, and the lake and mountains blended into one, like a still ink-wash painting.
Even though Lake Biwa is a lake, it feels as vast as the ocean, so there are many ways to enjoy it. Whether you take a relaxing walk along the shore or look down on it from above, the views from every angle are picturesque. The calm surface of the lake also has a soothing effect and makes you feel at peace.
Spend 2-3 days slowly exploring both the east and west shores of Lake Biwa. The trip felt super relaxing and enjoyable.
The scale is truly impressive—definitely worthy of being called Japan's largest lake.

The majestic mountain scenery around Lake Biwa, including Mt. Hiei, Omi Fuji, and the Hira mountain range, is truly moving.
