How could you visit Osaka and miss Tsutenkaku Tower?

Freshly fried, golden and crispy kushikatsu and piping-hot takoyaki that's crispy outside and soft inside, along with the flashy oversized signs and neon lights lining the streets—every photo feels so Osaka〜 You won't be able to stop eating as you walk around!

This is the place to sample all the affordable local favorites everyone should try when visiting Osaka.

Strolling through the Showa-era atmosphere of Shinsekai is perfect for taking photos and checking in.

Tsutenkaku Tower offers a real taste of Osaka’s local character. The observation deck has expansive views of the city and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. Nearby Shinsekai is lively and filled with the irresistible aromas of kushikatsu, takoyaki, and other local favorites. Rubbing the soles of the Billiken statue’s feet for good luck adds a fun touch. It’s a memorable experience packed with food, culture, and joy.

I visited Osaka’s landmark, Tsutenkaku Tower. During the day, you can look out over the city, and at night, it becomes even more romantic once it’s lit up. Going up to the rooftop to enjoy the night view is totally worth it!

Besides the observation deck, there’s now the super thrilling TOWER SLIDER. You slide all the way down from high up, and even though it only lasts a few seconds, the speed is such a rush. It made me want to do it again!

If you like taking photos, enjoying night views, and trying exciting attractions, Tsutenkaku is definitely one of Osaka’s must-visit spots.

As soon as you get to Shinsekai, you’ll spot Tsutenkaku right away—it’s so easy to recognize. Going up to the observation deck was decent, but honestly the main thing is shopping and wandering around down below.

It’s kind of retro and pretty cute. The Shinsekai area around it is lively, with kushikatsu places one after another—perfect for eating and wandering at the same time.

Tsutenkaku itself isn’t that tall, but it’s still fun to go up for the view and rub the Billiken statue for a bit of good luck.

It’s not really a polished, fancy kind of spot, but it feels very down-to-earth. If you want to experience Osaka’s local vibe, it’s a great stop.

The shopping streets around here feel a bit old and even kind of run-down. At night, some of the alleys nearby have a weird vibe, and the area doesn't feel very safe.

The inside of Tsutenkaku Tower has a cool retro vibe. There are displays about Osaka's history and culture, plus lots of interesting stories about the tower itself.

You have to wait in line to go up, and also to come down. It can get pretty tiring.

The observation deck is too low, so the view is mostly blocked. There's really not much to see.

After checking out the observation deck, I tried some local Osaka food nearby—kushikatsu, fugu, and all kinds of delicious dishes.
