What makes teamLab so special is that you don't simply look at the exhibits—you feel like you're actually stepping into the artwork. From walking barefoot through water to spaces filled with mirrors, lights, and flowers, each area offers a different sensory experience.
Although some areas are crowded and you have to wait to take photos, it's still a lot of fun overall. It's not much like a traditional art museum—it's an art experience you can interact with yourself!

Visiting teamLab Planets TOKYO in Toyosu is a fully immersive feast for the senses! You have to go barefoot as soon as you enter. In the water area, projected koi swim across the surface and turn into blooming flowers when they touch your body, creating a dreamy and romantic scene. The dazzling ceiling of crystal light droplets, giant colorful balloons with shifting light and shadows, and the Moss Garden's mirrored surfaces and metallic egg-shaped sculptures in the outdoor area make every corner visually stunning.
This place is great for taking photos, as the reflections of light and water can create really dramatic shots. A practical tip: some areas require you to wade through water about calf-deep, and there are mirrored floors, so wear pants that are easy to roll up and avoid skirts. Be sure to reserve tickets online in advance. This is definitely an art experience you shouldn't miss on an independent trip to Tokyo! -

You have to take off your shoes as soon as you enter, and in some areas you even walk directly through water. With the lighting, music, and mirrored spaces, it feels incredibly immersive.
My favorite was the Floating Flower Garden. The flowers slowly change as people move around, and seeing it in person felt absolutely dreamy. Photos really can’t capture what it looks like with your own eyes.
The overall flow was smooth, and the staff were all very kind. Even though it was pretty crowded, it was still well worth taking your time to experience.
I highly recommend coming with friends or your partner. It really feels like a brief escape from the real world. If it’s your first time in Tokyo, I think this is definitely one of the spots worth adding to your itinerary. The new exhibition area was especially fun too, with lots of interactive elements!

Pretty good, but don’t choose the last time slot.

TeamLab Planets really takes “immersive” to the next level! The way it breaks down the boundary between your body and the art is incredible. Whether it’s the light and shadows moving across the water or the crystal universe stretching endlessly into the distance, everything pulls you completely into this magical space the moment you step inside.
Make sure to reserve your ticket in advance. -

In the flower-filled space, the flowers aren’t still—they slowly bloom and drift.
Standing inside feels like being gently surrounded, and even time itself seems to grow lighter. -

You have to take off your shoes and walk around barefoot everywhere.
Some areas are filled with water and you can tell a lot of feet have been through there.
There was a bad smell and it felt really uncomfortable, honestly didn’t feel very hygienic. -

This is a digital art experience, and it's really impressive. When everyone lies down and watches flower petals fall from the ceiling, it's truly spectacular.

It's funny—this is Tokyo, Japan, but almost everyone visiting seems to be from outside Japan! 🤣
