Kumamoto Prefectural Traditional Crafts Center
On the northside of Kumamoto Castle you’ll find a spot sharing all the deep traditions of Kumamoto Prefecture’s historic handicrafts. Through displays of authentic, artisan folkcrafts, shopping experiences and hands-on events, this museum has been keeping the art traditions apart of daily life today since it opened in 1982.
The Kumamoto Prefectural Traditional Crafts Center is located near Kumamoto Castle and is a great place to learn about Kumamoto's traditional crafts. The museum displays a wide variety of crafts, including pottery, woodwork, bamboo crafts, and textiles, allowing visitors to get an up-close look at the craftsmanship and delicate techniques artisans have developed over many years.
