You’ll be a little out of breath on the way up, but the view is absolutely worth it. Once you get to the top, you can see all of Sumoto City and the ocean. It’s really beautiful on a clear day, and the view feels wide open.
There aren’t many buildings preserved at the ruins themselves. It’s mainly stone walls and the castle tower base, so it’s more about enjoying the scenery and soaking up the historical atmosphere than exploring a castle with lots of structures.
There are plenty of trees along the way, and the trail is fairly easy to walk, but I’d still recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

BARBARA EXPO RESTAURANT
True to its concept, “Wonderful table style for Nice people!”, BARBARA EXPO RESTAURANT is a place to enjoy wonderful food and a great time. The menu is French-based with Italian and Spanish touches, designed to please both the palate and the eye. From pasta and gratin to omurice, paella, and hamburg steak, there’s plenty to explore.
Lots of options—pasta, risotto, and steak dishes. The flavors are consistent and safe, but not quite “wow, this is amazing.”
Portions feel just right for women; for men, it might be a little on the small side.
For a department-store restaurant, the prices are a bit on the high side, but with the atmosphere, it’s still acceptable. -
Futagami Mountain Manyo Line
Mt. Futagami, with an elevation of Approx. 274 meters, stands near the border between Takaoka City and Himi City in Toyama Prefecture. The Futagami Mountain Manyo Line is an Approx. 8-kilometer scenic driving route that runs along the mountain ridge. On clear days, it offers spectacular views of Toyama Bay and the Noto Peninsula on one side, and the Tateyama Mountain Range on the other. From the observation deck near the summit, you can take in a panoramic view of Takaoka City.
There are so many trees along the way that it almost feels like a natural sunshade, and when the wind blows, it feels amazingly cool. The route isn’t too difficult, and you get mountain views, city views, and that quiet, clean-air feeling at the same time. Super soothing.

Steakhouse Ichigo
Steakhouse Ichigo in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, specializes in female Japanese Black Olive Wagyu. Shodoshima-grown Olive Wagyu is raised on dried olive pomace. It is known for its light, clean-tasting fat from oleic acid and tender texture. Among the limited number of Olive Wagyu shipped each year, the restaurant purchases whole, only the rarest female cattle.
The steak was cooked just right. The fat was fragrant without being greasy, and the meat was super tender and juicy when you bit into it. The sides were simple but tasty, and the overall price felt reasonable too.
